India is indeed an incredible place on the earth. The rich heritage of the country has been an inspiration for scientists to cake artist of today. An international Cake Collaboration named Incredible India was hosted for the cake artists of India.
This Incredible India collaboration was one of its kind web contests in India. It is a group effort by Global Sugar Artists Network. Tina Scott Parashar hosted the event.
Tina wears many caps together. She is a renowned cake artist, Art Advisor, Editor of the Collab book and magazine, and a mom. Tina is the brand ambassador for Cerart cake decorating tools, Saracino range of products, Magic Colours Champion.
The Artistic Excellence India contest ran through January 5 to January 28.
The collaboration required selecting a state of India as a theme for cake decoration.
The participants showcased the beauty and cultural diversity of India in their creations. Our very own cake artist Swati Deroliya competed for the same web collaboration. She dressed her cake in Rajasthan theme, her home state. In her words, “Since I belong to Jaipur, so, I chose Rajasthan as the state and design a cake based onto that. I have tried to incorporate elements of the PinkCity in it.”
The cake is a three tiered creation by the cake artist. Each tier represents different art or character of Rajasthan. She used royal icing, fondant, and gum paste to carve her perception through what she is best at. The cake artist used bottom most level as canvas to fabricate traditional fabric embroidery, Pittan and block print. The middle tier showcases traditional Jharokha and the famous “Bani Thani” painting. Next to the jharoka are the decorative “gorbands” and “Dhola-Maru Kathputli”. Pinkcity is popular for shopping handicrafts and many artistic works so, the top tier embodies the panoramic view of Bapu Bazar.
